If you know me, you know that I have a deep hatred for keys and loose coin change. I can explain another day. However, I think I’ve finally found something that makes me more upset than anything and that’s power cords. I want wireless power. Power pads. Something. Everything has to have a darn cord and naturally I lose them or can’t tell them apart.
This weekend I got a tip from the ever so smart and lovely Adora. It is one of those tips that is just so painfully obvious and simple that you need to smack yourself on the forehead afterwards. The “why on earth didn’t I think of that??!” tip. Yeah, one of those.
She told me to take a sharpie (white, silver - whatever contrasts the cord) and write what the cord belongs to *on it*. I’m totally going to do that and every time I write something on a cord, I’ll think about Adora and how cool she is.

There is an initiative for an open power supply standard that will allow devices to “talk” to a an ac->dc converter and tell it what voltage and amperage to deliver.
If this takes off, all your power cords will eventually be interchangeable - plugging into a standardized power station or maybe even just into the wall, should the standard eventually get built into homes.
